I am always amazed as I read what has been accomplished for the Lord through His local church. As I read through the book of Acts, it amazes me what the local church was able to accomplish. They had everything against them. The government was against them. The people of the towns were not Christian towns; it was not a Bible-belt type place. Yet, as they worked to see people saved and to see people grow in the Lord, the people said, “They have turned our city upside down. They have changed its course of direction.” You will find that through the local church multitudes were being saved. Many were being turned from their sinful ways to walk on paths of righteousness. In fact, cultures were changed. The society was changed from heathen to Christian. The way people treated one another in these cities was changed. The way women were treated was changed. The way children were treated was changed. The way servants were treated was changed. These all changed when they began, through the local church, teaching and preaching the truths of the Bible.
